Audio Notes Touch: a finger friendly dictaphone for Windows Mobile
I’ve been a happy Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 owner for a couple of months. It is running Windows Mobile 6.1 (with all it’s pro’s and con’s). Windows Mobile comes packed with a lot of useful apps but it is missing a useful dictaphone app. A dictaphone is very useful to record guitar riffs and musical ideas in general, so I went on a hunt for one on the Internet.
There are a couple of alternatives out there. Most of them are not freeware and most of them are also using the native Windows Mobile GUI, which isn’t very touch/finger friendly at all. The only decent freeware alternative I found was Power Dictaphone, but as I did not get it to work on my X1 I had to look for another alternative.
The app that really caught my attention was: Vito’s Audio Notes Touch. It is a simple and finger friendly dictaphone app that works surprisingly well. It has a couple of drawbacks, such as that you can only record into MP3 format (three different qualities) and that the interaction flow for renaming and deleting records is a bit weird. Also Audio Notes Touch it is not freeware, but overall I think it is such a good app that it is worth $12.95.
There is a trial version available at http://vitotechnology.com/mobile-audio-recorder.html if you are interested in trying it out.
